Season 1 of Rich in the Hood Focuses on Infamous Black Gangsters and their social impact.

In a time when we see more urban stories in front of us than before, it isn’t often that we get someone in front of us who can provide commentary on both the positive and negative aspects of street life. However, content creator Brian Valmond’s Rich in the Hood web series does just that.
Season 1 of the show, which concludes on June 25th with the story of Freeway Rick Ross, finds a way to bring to life all of the vintage footage and pictures embedded in the documentary’s episodes, with a combination of passion and honesty.
The show’s premiere episodes include an episode on recently slain street figure, Alpo Martinez, whose 2021 death generated its fair share of online controversy, as well as the opening episode on Lorenzo “Fat Cat” Nichols. The episodes have generated between 70-100,000 views throughout June much in the way his online Twitter content has, which reflects his ability to speak creatively and earnestly on rap’s impact.
Next for Valmond is the Death of a King docuseries, which explores the life and legacy of Dr Martin Luther King Jr, El Hajj-Malik Shabazz or Malcolm X, Fred Hampton, and Medgar Evans. In addition to the upcoming docuseries, there will also be the Rich in the Hood podcast.
Be sure to follow his YouTube channel, Valtown Entertainment, and tune into the Season One finale Sunday, June 25th, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. EST.
